FINAL EVENT
Thanks to the collaboration between Latitudo and art spaces over the years, the MAXXI – National Museum of 21st Century Arts in Rome will participate in the final event of FRIDAS, scheduled for October 29th at 5:30 PM. This will fortify the bond between the project’s dual aspects, art and sport, and broaden the reach of FRIDAS’ advocacies: Gender Equality and Inclusion.
FRIDAS project will culminate in a performance and symposium, where the technical movements of rugby will be transformed into a polyform dance, celebrating individualities as both distinct and equal. The artist John Cascone, together with the movement curator Andrea Pangallo, has involved two rugby teams – U.S. Primavera Rugby (Italy) and Ragbi Klub Nada (Croatia) – in a research and workshop journey, deepening the connection between body and movement. This exploration has led to the creation of a gender stereotype-free language.
One of the key moments will be the screening of the video artwork Emily by John Cascone, which emerged from the performances held in Split and Rome. The video explores the fine line between reality and fiction, using sound and imagery to reveal the limits of language and uncover hidden social constructs. Cascone, along with Pangallo, has fused contemporary language and self-perception, creating a work that embodies the values of equality and unity.
The event, open to all, is designed to engage a broad and diverse audience, reaching beyond the realm of sports. Its goal is to raise awareness on issues such as gender equality, strengthen the bond between art and sports, and ensure a widespread dissemination of FRIDAS’ message.
