The Artistic Workshops of the FRIDAS project are creative and participatory laboratories that use artistic practices to explore rugby as a space for expression, collaboration, and personal growth. Through the dialogue between art, movement, and storytelling, participants are encouraged to reflect on themes such as identity, inclusion, diversity, and relationships within the team and the wider sporting community.
In the first edition, the artistic workshops were led by artist John Cascone and Andrea Pangallo, who worked with the teams Primavera Rugby and Nada Ragbi Klub. The workshops focused on studying and reworking the individual rugby movements of the young players, with the aim of transforming them into a choreography capable of expressing the positive values of rugby.
In the second edition, the artistic workshops are led by Monkeys Video Lab, which will conduct five workshops in the partner countries. Participants will include players from Bulgarian Rugby Federation (Bulgaria), U.S. Primavera Rugby (Italy), ASD Romanes Wheelchair Rugby (Italy), RK Zagreb – Ragbi Klub Zagreb (Croatia), and Menorca Rugby Club (Spain).
Through photography, video, and sound, participants will explore themes such as diversity, equality, and resilience, contributing to the creation of visual and narrative materials that will inform the project’s video game storyline and an immersive multimedia installation planned for 2027.
