Video game

A core element of the project is the creation of an educational video game on the Roblox platform, developed by Mekit Studio together with the young participants and the artists. The game promotes inclusivity by allowing players to experience adaptive sports and face architectural barriers. It aims to raise awareness about accessibility and to highlight teamwork. Players will explore how athletes with disabilities face and overcome real-life challenges.

Mekit is a design and communication studio based in Turin, made up of a team of eight professionals with diverse backgrounds but a shared vision: designing experiences that put people at the center.

They are a cooperative company. They chose this model to value people before roles. They believe individual passions are a precious resource, and they actively nurture them, weaving them together with professional expertise within the team. Their best ideas grow out of this constant cross-pollination.

Their work spans UX/UI and digital experience design, web development and gamification, content creation and social media management, brand identity, illustration, and communication campaigns. But they are not only designers and developers – they are also educators and facilitators. They design and lead workshops, especially for young people, helping them develop creative and digital skills, build authentic connections, and imagine a more collaborative and less competitive world of work.

They invest time and energy in projects that reflect their values: cultural promotion, education and training, and experimentation between the human and the digital. They are interested in creating spaces where technology and creativity become tools for inclusion, expression, and participation.

Above all, Mekit is a professional community that believes in the power of shared ideas and in the possibility of generating cultural impact through design.

MEKIT x FRIDAS

Within FRIDAS, Mekit acts as the digital lead, responsible for designing and developing a multiplayer videogame on Roblox inspired by the project’s core themes: inclusion, diversity, mutual respect, and the fight against bias in sport.

Their role begins with a strong collaborative phase. They work in close synergy with the other project partners – particularly the videomakers of Monkeys Video Lab – who activate the reflections, stories and critical perspectives that shape the narrative foundations of the game. These insights become the conceptual starting point for the interactive experience we design. In addition, Monkeys Video Lab will produce selected visual and multimedia assets that will be integrated into the game world, enriching and personalizing the overall player experience.

The development process unfolds through a series of live capacity-building sessions and asynchronous webinars, structured as hands-on workshops. Together with the young participants, we will imagine, design and prototype a shared 3D multiplayer world. Participants will not simply test a finished product, but actively contribute to its concept, environments and dynamics – using game design as a tool for reflection, dialogue and co-creation.

Their ambition is to create a game where “diversity is the norm”: a space in which players can explore different perspectives and expand the boundaries of what is usually defined as normal. Through interactive storytelling and collaborative mechanics, the game will encourage players to experience inclusion as something lived and relational, rather than abstract.

Mekit will oversee the final development and refinement of the videogame, which will be presented and played during the project’s final event as one of its key legacy outcomes.

Throughout the process, our approach will be informal, non-competitive, playful and open. They aim to cultivate a non-judgmental and collaborative environment where experimentation is encouraged and each participant’s creativity can meaningfully shape the collective result.
